Open world auto-battler RPG Illuvium recently introduced a new patch at the end of last month, enhancing both the Overworld and Arena modes. This update comes with numerous improvements, bug fixes, and the exciting launch of the Gauntlet Leviathan Mode.
Understanding the Gauntlet Leviathan Mode
The newly implemented Leviathan Mode within Gauntlet allows players to leverage their NFT collections of Illuvials, Suits, and Weapons, offering the opportunity to upgrade them for strategic benefits. Players will find that the shop displays only the assets they own, with their actual power levels influencing the statistics. For Illuvials that players do not own, the stats are standardized to ensure balance.
In the shop, any specific Illuvial, Suit, or Weapon can only appear once at a time. This restriction also applies to the bench and the board; units currently held in these areas will not be available in the shop until they are either fused or sold. If a player sells or fuses an owned unit, it can reappear in the shop. When it comes to displaying units that a player possesses in multiple quantities but at different levels, the shop prioritizes showing the highest-level version first. For instance, if a player has several Atlases of varying levels, the one with the highest level will be the first to show up.
Units that players do not own will always appear at level 1 in the shop, while owned units retain their levels. This feature can be advantageous based on the NFTs players have collected. When refreshing the shop, a dynamic recalculation occurs, displaying units based on what players currently own, as well as those on the board or bench. Only Stage 1 Illuvials are directly available in the shop, while Weapons and Suits operate similarly to Illuvials, with the highest-level versions displayed first and those already equipped or on the bench excluded from availability.
Overall, the new Leviathan Mode aims to “reward players who invest in their collections.” Players who have been diligently building their roster of Illuvials, Weapons, and Suits now have the perfect opportunity to test their tactical skills and identify further enhancements if necessary.
What’s Included in Patch 1.1.0?
The 1.1.0 patch introduces a range of updates for Overworld and Arena, alongside various general enhancements, including bug fixes, improvements to the Forge, and an update to the IMX plugin aimed at optimizing performance for a better blockchain gaming experience.
In terms of Overworld updates, the patch notes report a “significant overhaul” of the spawn weights for Illuvials, ensuring that the total cost for completing the full Set1 Illuvial collection remains roughly unchanged. Players will notice that higher-stage Illuvials are now more prevalent, and the expected value per cost for Region Stage 1 and Stage 2 has aligned more closely with that of Region Stage 3. Additionally, there has been a 50% increase in fusion costs for Tier 5 Illuvials, while the curing cost for Resplendent Shards has been adjusted to 1000, down from 1200.
As for Arena updates, changes include the introduction of randomized runs in Survival mode and an increase in the number of waves available during gameplay. Each run in Arena Survival will now be entirely randomized, and defeating Wave 40 will no longer signify the end of the run. However, the new maximum limit has not been disclosed in the official announcement, leaving it to the community to discover.
